Coebourn Elementary School

Coebourn Elementary SchoolCoebourn Elementary School is a positive supportive environment that serves a diverse community in Brookhaven, PA. Our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) approach to character education developed out of an innate culture of positivity and a desire to implement new research based approaches to our character education program. In July 2009, a team of staff members who were trained in PBIS identified our core values of Responsible, Respectful, and Ready and created current PBIS/Character artifacts. That September, the team collaborated with the entire staff and students, requested input and revision occurred. Over the course of the next few years, we continued to implement and develop our PBIS/Character Education Program. It was during the summer of 2013 as we were temporarily relocated to a two story building and added arrival procedures and stair expectations that we added a character trait of the month from the Core Essentials Program. It was the perfect complement to our developing program. We are continuing our character journey with the transition into our brand new Coebourn Elementary school building in January 2015 and currently we are surveying all stakeholders to choose our new character theme that we will incorporate into our current program with this transition.
