Point Elementary School
St. Louis, Missouri
2015 National School of Character
From the moment students arrive at Point Elementary, to the ring of the final bell, character is just a natural part of our school day. Student leadership is evident from the beginning of the day as students broadcast to peers and staff in morning media announcements. This leadership continues to be displayed throughout the day across each grade level and in our school-wide cross age vertical character families. Our Character Education journey began over a decade ago when Point began the Caring School Community Program. Since then, Point has erupted with students that are initiating and leading in everyday learning and character activities. Yearly reflections drive the focus of character education and are the foundation of our student-created school vision which is, “At Point Elementary, we strive to create an environment which allows students to feel safe, respected, and nurtured by the Point community.” Engaging parents as well as the whole community is an integral part of character education at Point Elementary. This is evident through our community engagement committee which is comprised of Point staff members, current and former students, parents, administrators, and community business leaders and owners.
