Zwink Elementary

2015 National School of Character

Zwink Elementary SchoolThe vision of Zwink Elementary is to provide a supportive school climate which promotes educational excellence and rigorous character development. Zwink is an ethnically and economically diverse school that is almost 50% economically disadvantaged with a high mobility rate that is dedicated to providing “high expectations and high support for every child, every day.” In our first year of implementation, staff, parents, and students joined together to create and define Zwink’s Core Values: Educational Excellence, Prized Relationships, Collaborative Community, Attitude of Gratitude, and Intentional Loyalty. These Core Values are the heart of Zwink and are integrated into all aspects of the school, fueled by the implementation of the Nurtured Heart Approach. In the following years all stakeholders have internalized and lead our Core Values as we take moral action through service learning. As a result of our commitment to our Core Values, we are recognized throughout the community as a place that trains educators and students to lead through service and an unwavering commitment to excellence. We recognize this perception is a direct result of our commitment to lead through our Core Values as we serve students joyfully! We believe the greatest impact on a student’s ability to achieve is character. Because of our dedication to developing the whole child, we continually celebrate greatness to facilitate the transformation of all students as they reach academic and character goals.
