"My Wish" Campaign
The "My Wish" campaign began in December when each grade level, K-8, explored areas of need in the school community. Through this exploration students made a "wish" for the community. This wish became the catalyst for service learning. All students are now participating in a service learning project based on their class wish. These projects include; adopting a "grandfriend," making care packages for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, teaming up with Children Hospital to lift the spirits of and knit hats for children with illness, write letters to soldiers, and support Pet Promise. All grade levels have developed plans to make their "wishes" come true. They have sought out members of the community who have offered their time and energy to better the community. Additionally, we have encouraged parents to become involved and guide their students towards giving to those less fortunate. The projects will be carried out between the months of March and April, and students will be presenting class projects to the whole school in May. These presentations will focus on the outcomes of the project and the schools vision to build a better community.
