African United Interdisciplinary Project
The purpose of the African United Interdisciplinary Project is to teach the students and staff of Mill Pond School, as well as the Westborough community, about the countries and diversity throughout the continent of Africa. There are approximately 100 students on the sixth grade Firefly Team and each student chooses an African country he/she would like to research and represent on the team's annual Africa United Day. On this day, the students showcase the culmination of this six-week interdisciplinary project. Social studies, language arts, math, science, and art are integrated and character education is embedded throughout the entire project.
