Dear Educators,

Character.org is excited to once again sponsor the Laws of Life Essay Contest for students in Grades 4-12.

This expressive writing contest offers students the opportunity to “reflect and write about a core value that is important to them, and why.”

Teachers across the world have shared that their students appreciate writing a Laws of Life essay because they realize that their own stories are as captivating and inspiring as the stories of prominent figures.

School leaders report that encouraging their students to write a Laws of Life essay has deepened the impact of their school’s Character Education/SEL programs.

THIS YEAR we are awarding $100 to six students who have written a “Most Compelling” essay, as deemed by our panel of distinguished judges.

Student essays will be judged in 3 separate age categories:

  • 4th-6th grade
  • 7th-8th grade
  • 9th-12th grade

Submissions are due Thursday, February 20, 2025.  Register your school to participate NOW through this online form.

You can find more information about the Laws of Life essay contest at this link on the Character.org website or email wendy@character.org to create a personalized implementation plan for your organization.

Looking forward to your entries!

The Laws of Life essay contest is made possible by a grant from The School for Ethical Education.
