“The Legacy Series”

The Legacy Series: ON METAPHORS & MANTRAS, MINEFIELDS, AND MORALITY: DR. MARVIN BERKOWITZ: Having labored for nearly half a century in the fields of moral, character, values, virtue, and human flourishing development, I have learned that while the soil is fertile, it is also complex and challenging to cultivate well. I welcome this opportunity to offer some navigational guidance for educators who are interested in effectively “nurturing the flourishing of human goodness.” In doing so, I will share a set of metaphors, mantras, and other guideposts that have helped keep me (and others) committed to this noble endeavor on a steady and impactful path, highlight common pitfalls that can derail even well-intentioned initiatives, and argue for the primacy of morality in all that we do.
