The Legacy Series: FROM THE PORCH: CLIFTON TAULBERT: It’s my honor to have this opportunity to share my thoughts and my writing with educators, parents, and friends throughout our country and beyond our borders. Having grown up on the Mississippi Delta in the agrarian world of cotton, I thought this would be the only world I would ever know. I had no idea that a writer lived inside of me and that China was closer than I thought. To keep me, a growing young boy, from trouble while sitting on the Turn Roads, my aunt would give me a large stick with a somewhat sharp edge. Mama Ponk would tell me to dig my way to China.
